Monarch Awarded Yarralumla Public Housing Contract
30 APRIL 2026
Monarch Building Solutions has been awarded the demolition and construction contract for a new 30-dwelling public housing development in Yarralumla on behalf of Housing ACT.
The project will transform the public housing complex, originally built in the 1950s, into a modern, energy-efficient residential development that will provide much-needed homes for Canberrans who need them most.
Monarch's scope of works includes the full demolition and disposal of the existing structures on site, followed by the design (to the extent specified) and construction of 30 new dwellings across three buildings.
The project is set to deliver a mix of one, two and three-bedroom homes across three buildings on a 3,000m2 footprint, including 18 one-bedroom units, 10 two-bedroom terraces and two 2 three-bedroom dwellings.
The development will include multi-space carports and one building will have undercroft parking spaces and bicycle storage. Landscaping includes communal seating and tables positioned beneath mature trees that will be retained on site; additional verge trees will also be preserved to maintain the streetscape character.
The project forms part of the ACT Government's commitment to deliver 5,000 additional public, community and affordable rental dwellings in Canberra by 2030, supported by Housing Australia's Future Fund Facility Round 2.
Monarch looks forward to working alongside Government partners and all project stakeholders to deliver a development the community can be proud of.
