Monarch to Construct New Chancery for Bangladesh High Commission

24 March 2026

Monarch has been selected to deliver the construction of a new Chancery for the Bangladesh High Commission in Yarralumla, representing a major addition to Canberra's diplomatic precinct.

This project involves the construction of a new Chancery building on a greenfield site, encompassing three levels, including a two-storey building with basement parking. It will incorporate premium diplomatic and consular office spaces, a reception, multi-purpose hall, library, kitchens, and supporting amenities.

Architectural features include 7-metre-tall ceilings, elegant roof terraces, shade structures, and colonnades that will give the building a unique identity. The extensive external works comprise landscaped gardens, courtyards, retaining walls, pedestrian terraces, and a new vehicular driveway. A detached 35m2 security building will also be constructed within the property grounds.

The project officially broke ground with a sod-turning ceremony held on the future site of the Chancery in Yarralumla, ACT. The High Commissioner, H.E. F. M. Borhan Uddin, and Minister Mr. Kiriti Chakma led the celebration, marking the milestone by turning the first sod and blessing the grounds prior to construction commencing.

Monarch is excited to bring this vision to life and look forward to working closely with the Bangladesh High Commission and Guida Moseley Brown Architects to deliver a high-quality, secure, and enduring diplomatic facility. Stay tuned for progress updates as construction gets underway.
