The Watson Health Hub provides a purpose-built setting for young people accessing mental health and alcohol and other drug services in Canberra.
The project replaced ageing buildings and infrastructure with four new facilities: Calm House, Palm Hub, Palm House and CatholicCare, to support services operated by the Ted Noffs Foundation and Marymead CatholicCare. Designed to ACT Health specifications, each building offers a secure, residential-style environment where young people can receive specialist care and support 24 hours a day.
The project included demolition of the existing facility and refurbishment of off-site accommodation, allowing residents to relocate during construction. Monarch also delivered landscaping and internal roads, bringing the four buildings together as a connected and welcoming precinct.
Resident safety was carefully considered throughout the design and construction, with anti-ligature features incorporated across the buildings and bushfire protection measures tailored to the precinct’s setting at the base of Mount Majura.
