The innovative design of the pavilion required a matching approach to its finishes. Exactness was required to ensure the alignment of mixed materials along feature crease lines, which form a critical part of the pavilion’s design.
Sharp and acute angles presented a higher degree of difficultly compared with traditional carpentry. The accuracy realised is evident from a distance, but on closer inspection the level of detail is highlighted in the tight and consistent gaps between timber boards and the careful alignment of screws.
From the preparation of the shiplap boards, to the resolution of the repeating pattern used to give the finish an extra level of detail, Monarch’s strong relationships with its suppliers ensured an outstanding result.
