Southside Hydrotherapy Pool Now Complete

The Southside Hydrotherapy Pool at Tuggeranong’s Lakeside Leisure Centre is ready to welcome the community. Monarch Building Solutions is proud to have delivered this $8.5 million health facility for the ACT Government, with doors opening 25 August 2025.
From the start, this project was about more than bricks and mortar, it was about creating a space that’s welcoming, safe, and accessible for everyone. Working closely with Arthritis ACT, CK Architecture and other stakeholders, we designed and built a facility that removes barriers and supports wellbeing at every step.
Designed for Comfort and Accessibility
Visitors will notice thoughtful features throughout:
Parking & Entry: Extra accessible and standard parking spaces, plus ramps to both the centre and the pool.
Inclusive Facilities: An accessible bathroom and changeroom designed for ease and dignity.
Temperature Control: Underfloor heating and pool water kept at 33–34 °C—matching skin temperature to avoid shock, soothe muscles, and calm the nervous system.
Safety First: Handrails, slip-resistant flooring, and a bariatric-rated hydraulic hoist for safe pool entry.
Practical Touches: Dedicated storage for mobility aids like wheelchairs and scooters.

With these features, the Southside Hydrotherapy Pool will play a vital role in rehabilitation, pain management, and recovery for people across Canberra’s south. Whether easing the effects of arthritis, supporting post-surgery recovery, or providing gentle exercise for injury rehabilitation, this facility will be a hub for health and connection.
Delivering this project was a true collaboration; bringing together government, community groups, and our skilled team to create a facility that will serve the region for decades to come.
